Winzerei Zur Metzg
Switzerland:
The Winzerei Zur Metzg is a relatively recent newcomer to the Zurich wine scene. The name is a reference to the early days of Patrick Thalmann’s wine adventure, which began in 2010 in a former butcher’s shop. Now a professional winemaker, Thalmann adds to his range of wines every year. They taste wonderful and that probably has much to do with the fact that Thalmann himself is passionate about wine and as a former collector familiar with all the great wines of the world. His superbly fruity Pinot Noir is a true delicacy and many of his wines deservedly belong to the 100 best wines of Switzerland. Thalmann and his team love experiments and innovations and it was appreciated: the Swiss Wine Connection and Falstaff awarded him with a Trophy in the category of Experimental Wines ( and Peter Keller, wine editor of Neue Zürcher Zeitung, called him “one of the most innovative winemakers in Switzerland”).
